Richard A Carter is an artist and lecturer in Digital Media at the University of Roehampton, London, UK. Carter’s research is focused on examining the exchanges between human and non-human agencies, as these are expressed in the context of digital art and literature, and considers what this reveals concerning the generation and communication of knowledge across the contemporary digital environment. Carter’s research is embedded within his artistic practice, and he creates digital art objects that meditate on questions relating to the entanglements of agency and meaning in an age of proliferating machine communication. Carter’s most recent project, Waveform, deploys airborne imagery and generative poetry to explore questions of sensing, sense making, and meaning at a time of profound ecological and climatic transformation.
