Dr. Lai-Tze Fan is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo, Canada. She researches digital storytelling, media theory and infrastructure, research-creation and critical making, and systemic inequalities in the design of technology and technological labour with a focus on AI. Fan makes digital and material art about e-waste, crafts, and fashion.
Fan is an Editor and the Director of Communications of electronic book review and an Editor of the digital review. She is Co-Editor of the 2020 collection Post-Digital: Dialogues and Debates from electronic book review (Bloomsbury Academic), and is the Editor of special journal issues on “Canadian Digital Poetics” (ebr February 2021) and “Critical Making, Critical Design" (ebr/tdr September 2021).
