Check out what’s new this week with electronic book review!

Drum rolls, please! In the next 24 hours, electronic book review will be debuting a completely new website design developed by Colin Robinson! With clean lines and bright colors, the new layout will streamline the journal while retaining all the aspects of electronic book review we know and love. As with all debut performances, there may be a few quirks to work out. So, if you spot anything amiss, please send us a tip!

But, wait—there’s more! To commemorate ebr’s 30 years of online-first, open access, experimental academic publishing, Will Luers and everyone’s ‘favorite’ new ‘co-author’ ChatGPT have created an online tribute. With an interactive front page, a timeline to follow ebr’s evolution, a curated collection of stand-out contributions to the journal, and video interviews with just a few of the figures who’ve helped ebr flourish, ebr@30 is an amazing historical resource. Remember to check it out once the new site design goes live!

With the deadline for the special gathering on electronic book review’s co-founder and long-term editor-in-chief Joseph Tabbi fast approaching, we’ve published a small snippet of what’s to come with “Joe Tabbi Appreciations,” featuring a host of interview transcripts from Tabbi’s collaborators past and present. If you’re interested in submitting for the gathering, don’t forget to read the call for contributions and submit before the extended 20 September deadline!

There will be even more cel_ebr_ation of ebr’s 30th anniversary at the Electronic Literature Organization 2025 conference! Our special panel—featuring Lai-Tze Fan, Anna Nacher, Joseph Tabbi, Ewan Brenda, and Tegan Pyke—will be a reflection on what has been for electronic book review and what lies ahead. If you’re joining us in Toronto, we’re Session 3D at 10:30AM on July 12!

ebr will also be serving up tasty treats to all time zones with the ebr Food Truck! Hosted in the ELO Discord server during the ELO2025 conference, the ebr Food Truck channel will allow those unable to travel to Canada to mingle and socialize. Join us and host Rob Wittig for a netprov of delectable delight!

Meanwhile, in our last newsletter, Fredrick Guy included a link to The Digital Review’s call for papers that loaded incorrectly. (Thanks, Fredrick!) Those interested in submitting to The Digital Review Issue 05 (2026) - Video Essays on Video Games have just been given the correct link!

That’s all for now and see you in September for more—
